I'm trying to find a novel I read in 5th grade about 10 years ago. All I can tell you is
>It was probably YA
>The protagonist (forget their gender) is a student and works in some sort of bakery or restaurant
>At one point in the novel they give a homeless man a sandwich and this ends up being important for some reason
>They end up in the studio audience of a gameshow at one point
>Their best friend is epileptic
>I think it involves time travel eventually
>The cover of it is a plainish background with objects of relevance to the story on it (I think one of them was a key. I remember thinking this cover was neat because you'd try to guess how they relate to the story)
I have no idea whether or not this book was popular at all, I just found it at the school library
Do any of you know what book I'm describing or have any books that you have hazy memories about like this?

Sometimes it's worth it just for the nostalgia. Some books that I found like this after years have this ability to take you back-- and that, in itself, is entertaining and beautiful

Can anyone find this book from my youth as well?

>book's titled was only one general word like "Trapped!" that makes it hard to google
>book cover consists of a guy entering a dark stairwell and wearing a tuxedo
>Main character is an investigator of sorts entering a mansion filled with fancy guests in a party
>book has a page or two dedicated to caviar for some reason
>one of the main things mentioned in the book is that the house's owner was a pilot who would later be related to the guy that gets caught in the end
>liquor is also something that's often mentioned in the book

For some reason, I really liked this book when I was in 4th grade.

There was another one in high school about this guy who has a piece of paper get blown out of his apartment window and he treads across the window sill to get it

You know fuck it I'll take a stab at it
>Protagonist is a young male, probably a young adult or teen
>At one point they are stationed underground with some group, I think he was quartering with some sort of mercenary company
>The second most important character was a female companion to the protagonist
>They eventually travel to another planet, the space travel was more fantasy than sci-fi though, one of the planets was mostly greenery and fields, the other was rather barren
>I think there's some magic involved but it isn't excessive
Mind you that this novel may very well not exist in any capacity
