If you consider both ideology and religion unreasonable beliefs that receive strength of conviction from factors external to the truth, you have already considered them essentially equal, so you require no further reading.
I hate the
>give me books that elaborate and prove this position that just occured to me
meme. If it occured to you, then you already have a rationale behind it. So elaborate upon it yourself, clarify it to yourself before asking for words of others.

They really botched the job. It is quite embarrassing. Back then, it appeared that the left wing would transcend the spirit of arbitrariness that liberalism lowered itself into through its connection to the theoretical underpinnings of market economics (as opposed to the older republican liberalism, to which the consideration of virtue was central and essential). After all, it is an essential part of the growth of Man that he should bring under conscious control all that he possibly can, the material and spiritual reproduction of the state included, and this is inimical both to the external laws of the market, which avoid all conscious control, being unorganised by any body of men, and the lack of cognition of essential social laws (both are currently left to impose themself upon an unconscious man). But, somewhere along the line, it fell into precisely the same pit that liberalism fell into. Conservatism did not survive it either; from rightful guardian of the naive considerations (which do, indeed, have a relation to the truth, in that they always contain it partially, but can only be truly understood within the system of truth, which puts them in their proper places) it became that which attempts to lower Man by attacking his powers of cognition (although this has also become an essential component of the left wing).
The prognosis is death of the patient.

the entire generation is cringe left or right

the people need a message that's simple enough to understand quickly but derivative enough from actual reasoning and philosophy if an enemy smart person tried dismantling it logically

''Political Theology'' by Carl Schmitt - the book revolves around Schmitt's idea that political ideas are secularised theological concepts.

Associating something as base and cringe as ideology to religion is insulting.

>If it occured to you, then you already have a rationale behind it.
a thousand times this; threads asking for books that affirm a given political opinion is one of the forces driving /lit/ down the shitter
