So how many book do you read a month on average, /lit/?

>> No.1563770

Between 0 and 4 (max is 10). Depends on how much uni/general life is up I'd say.
Stuff to do: 0
Unemployed, everyone else has to work: 10

>> No.1563787

Last month I read seven. This month will probably be around five, but mostly because this month I'm reading some large Victorian novels.

>> No.1563790

I don't know. I don't count them because I don't see books as chores to be finished.

Just because a person keeps track of how many books they read doesn't mean they view them as chores.

They either view them as chores or accomplishments. Either way, they're wrong.

Doing the dishes is a chore and an accomplishment. I have no idea how often I did that the last week.

>> No.1563808

>>1563799
If you don't view finishing a book as an accomplishment then maybe you're reading the wrong books. The books I read, when I close the back cover, I feel like I actually did something. I feel a little bit of pity for you, since you apparently don't experience that. Maybe read something more challenging.

eleventy-seven!

It has been almost a week and a half and I'm half way though a 500 pages book. Would you say I'm a slow reader?

>> No.1563827

I don't count how many books I read, that's a stupid thing to do IMHO.
But I read a lot.

>> No.1563828

During college: ~3 per month
During break: ~10 or so.

You're responding to a socialization surrounding books that you've most likely been exposed to since you were a small child.

>> No.1563839

Around ten, depending on the size.

>> No.1563858

In the past week I've read something like 3 books and finished half of Catch 22. I'd say it can differ from zero to as much as 8 or 10, depending on the length. For instance, The Brothers Karamazov took me multiple months.

>> No.1563873

0.4 in a good month.

I'm a fast but lazy reader.

>> No.1563890

I don't read fiction.

The books I read take time to read and understand, so probably around 3-4 a month. A book a week is a good rule of thumb.

I probably read 7-8 journal articles a month.

WHY THE FUCK ARE HALF OF OUR THREADS ABOUT READING SPEED, FREQUENCY OR AMOUNT. WHO GIVES A FUCK, AS LONG AS YOU DERIVE SOMETHING GOOD FROM A BOOK.
