I think he's worth it. A small body of work to be sure but everything is golden. He even recognizes his weakness of his first novel and tried to take it out of print if NYRB hadn't swooped in. You can read it to see his growth or not and wouldn't lose anything. Stoner, Butcher's Crossing, and Augustus are must reads though.
