We still have a couple millenniums before resources start to really get scarce (ignoring the food needs of a population with geometric growth). And space mining plus several other resource gathering and saving technologies have been developing at a increasingly fast pace.
Unless we royally fuck it up(like trowing everything into anarchy in order to return to a non agrarian world, which is not ready to support the current population of humans) I would give it a couple hundred years at worse so that we start to have viable colonies on several other planets.

The Protocols specify that conflicts should not result in an exchange of territory. After the Protocols' inevitable collapse, people will be free to hunt and gather as much lebensraum as they want.

CHAZ is already seeing a glimpse of that world, but are unable to take advantage of it, because they were chosen for their ability to play dress-up, not accomplish goals.
