I was born into a western society and have read all of its canon. Despite my ancestry, would I still qualify as European in spirit? If the answer is no, then what's the difference between me and a white liberal who knows nothing of his culture aside from skin color?

What the hell are you talking about? You're out here trying to redeem yourself in European arms, for what? What type of life is that? Just accept that some nations subjugated others, some nations have cultures that you consider more highly than others, and you don't need to squander your confidence in your people as a result of that. Are you American? I'm Guyanese-American and personally, I think black culture here is great, it's multifaceted and full of innovations. Is Charles Mingus Richard Vagner? Is Morrison Woolf? No, of course not, but who cares? I love it all, and the the bits from my people are quite dear to me regardless of anything. Listen, if you're a native African I highly doubt you can't learn more about your people from locals. And if you're American, you have literally nothing to complain about as far as culture goes.
