Just admit it right now, fiction is the most pleb thing that anyone can read. It does not increase ones knowledge, it does not increase ones wisdom, unless it happens to accidentally contain such things. The reason I say accident is because philosophy and non-fiction are for people who truly want to expand and change their perspective, while fiction is just for people who want to have "fun".

It's like playing a video game, or watching a movie. The only way to truly educate oneself in a positive, expansive way, is to read theory, philosophy, and informative books.

The only way to truly educate yourself is to have friends.
I know you'll disagree OP, but don't knock it til you try it.

It just depends on one's priorities. If you have a hard on for learning technical stuff then yes fiction of every medium would certainly be a waste of your time.
But that'd also make your life dull wouldn't it? After all, one needs some form of entertainment to maintain their sanity.
Still to add some points to your argument against fiction, I'd say that endlessly reading fiction is pretty hedonistic and it will seldomly help someone improve.

Why do retards exist? Shouldn't natural selection eliminate creatures of that sort? Are we lied to by evolutionary bilogists?

This is it, isn't it? This is the attitude beyond every single moron who says fiction is a waste of time. They view reading like leveling up. They think the accumulation of knowledge is like grinding for stats in an RPG, or something like that. It's a very bugman-type attitude towards reading and knowledge.
