I read the first one. It's incredibly similar to fellowship of the ring but three times as long. Fans say only the first book is like that, but I didn't continue with the series. Just felt like I already read LotR and there's a ton of other shit I could be reading than some YA-ified tolkein clone.

My cousins, who mostly read stuff like Robert Ludlum growing up, are not huge fantasy fans but they loved it - and insisted that Eragon just rips off of it. I've yet to tackle it.

I just finished book 5 and so far it’s really good. It is lengthy but it’s quintessential fantasy

It's only worth reading if you're in prison or something like that.

It's good if you're 14 years old. I'm not saying that in a negative way.

It's actually pretty good and if you enjoy generic fantasy settings, have an overactive imagination, or just want something to entertain you for a long time, give it a try.
It's not a great work of literature by any means, but if you pick it up expecting to be enlightened on the nature of man or whatever you're in the wrong place.
>>15544837 is a pretty good way of putting it.
