Why does it feel like Philosophy is a cult?

>self improvement and self actualisation from past investigators of the human condition are now forms of cults
>being pawns in the media globo homo schemes are seen as empowering and self affirming to ones improvement and feel good motives in life

You know even if it is technically a cult, id rather learn from those that endured pain and insight for life itself rather than be a humble boob in the mass corporate shilling for morals that only help push capital and wealth and degradation of human spirit .

Because it is, it's just a BORING cult.
The greatest thing Pythagoras ever did was make his philosophy cult at least amusing:
>AGH that guy discovered irrational numbers let's STAB him to death!

Because you don't understand that the human dynamics that make a cult operate are universal to most forms of human relationships.
A family has some invariant properties similar to a cult. A religion is a cult which has gained mainstream acceptance. Philosophy or Economics have the same charismatic leaders, doctrines, followers who impute the leaders with their charismatic authority, and self identification and gatekeeping that a cult has. As do football teams!

And no - I didn't say "everything is a cult" I said "a cult is like everything". If you fail to grasp the difference, then how the fuck are you functioning socially?

The primary difference between a religion and a cult is that cult leaders don't have to play by their own rules. e.g. L. Ron Hubbard vs. the Pope.

Why didn't Socrates stab Meno's slave to death? Was he chicken?

I forget who said it but someone mentioned how the Ayn Rand and Nietzsche followers were structured like an M-L cult/ organization.

Honestly I’m feeling that philosophy is a cult more and more I’m delving into it. Like, it feels like a hole that people can’t escape from, and tons of people get stuck in it. You ever went to Reddit? Ever seen the philosophy they spout with incoherent phrases and obvious biases? It’s just dumb. Don’t get stuck with it. Let’s just hope that poets do better.

Why the stupid so often become malignant –To those arguments of our adversary against which our head feels too weak, our heart replies by throwing suspicion on the motives of his argument.

That said, people are blind to their own biases and philosophers are no exception.

Because it voices dissent of the norm. All such things, for better or worse, appear like cults.
