effect: verb; accomplish, manifest, realize. To effect change.
effect: noun; result, consequence. The effect of a cause.
affect: verb; influence, change. To affect the outcome.
affect: noun; psychological state, emotion, feeling, mood. Psychopaths have blunted affect.

It's so simple, OP. This is how I remember it.

You should already know effect as what results from a cause, and so by deduction, you know that affect is the verb 'to change something' or the noun 'emotional state.'

I basically remember it as effect is a noun and affect is the other one. Works most of the time

The greenhouse E-ffect affects the Earth.
That's how I remember it.

Also, in the humanities, we have Affect Theory but not effect theory.
