So apparently you are the slowest board on 4chan and I'm low on time, but I'll give it a shot.

I am looking for books about the soviet union, specifically spying and murder. Also, preferably books that are about a certain event, such as a town in the former soviet union or a person that lived there. Fiction accepted, but I prefer real stories.

Sorry for this vague description, I rarely read books but I want to start "getting into" it.

Yeah, was at some orphanage somewhere, I don't really remember. All the kids were strangled and their arms and legs were turned around.

A Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich

This is exactly what you want. One day detailed and written about very impressively from the life of a man in a Soviet gulag. Totally awesome, and quite a short read.

I bought Child 44 by Tom Rob Smith a while ago.

It is loosely based on Ukrainian serial killer Andrei Chikatilo

I rate it at 8/10.

High Noon at the Cold War is a good book about the cuban missile crisis.

I'm going to second this one. It really is short, too. You could finish it in a day easily. I'm guessing you need this for schoolwork, so.
