/lit/, do you ever get depressed at the thought that no matter how much you read, learn and study you will never know it all?
I get this sometimes.

by looking inside you will truly understand everything on the outside

Everything depresses me OP. As far as your question goes I only get depressed about not knowing everything about the subjects I am interested in.

>> No.1551124

Maybe you should take comfort in the fact that by knowing that you will never know more than a fragment of the information in the universe, you subsequently know far more than most other people.

That sounds dangerously close to 'I'm smart enough to know I'm dumb' which is one of my pet hate phrases.

knowledge is a man made thing. The universe is not a library. There is no objective knowledge. We've been making up 'facts' since plato. Even if you did 'know it all', it would be relative to the human nervous system, and liable to be deleted.

That sentiment goes back to Socrates.

Why do you hate Socrates? ;-;

I think im supposed to be sad by this, but this makes me undeniably not depressed

Don't be sad, just accept this and move on learning things that you won't take with you when you die.

I don't hate Socrates, I just hate morons who spout that kind of shit to sound smart. It's false modesty.

I'm smart because I'm dumb (actually I'm smart, lol).
