The only source there is a paragraph page quote, where he playfully hypothesises something more sincere than (and he is speaking specifically about this) a now forgotten book called My Friend The Gynaecologist by Mike Lerner. This is a single, brief quote which features as a quick, humorous aside in a forty-page essay about television. It is insane to me how much uninformed people have extrapolated from this and related it back to DFW, as though this were his mission statement, or something. It is fucking nuts.
