I'm not finished it yet, but it is quite good so far. The author isn't a Marxist, but he clearly did his research, and actually worked with the University of Hanoi and thr Institute of Marxism-Leninism in Vietnam to compile research.

Can you trust any information provided by the winner side of the war? It's prone to be bias in the sense that Ho Chi Minh is borderline a god of virtue.

Fun fact: the only one who can be considered a philosopher in Vietnam after the war was social isolated because of his criticism on the ruling (only) party. Basically his colleagues and friends couldn't even say hello to him on the street.
