>Re-visit IT
>Love how bonkers the whole lore is, get to the gang-bang part...Okay there Stephen
>Figured I'd read more King on my time off, realized the cut version of The Stand is more cohesive than the uncut version

Okay Anon,s give me some Stephen King recommendations, this man's bibliography is bloated beyond belief but for simple reads I'm enjoying him.

If you've read those two books, you can pretty safely ignore everything else he's ever written. If you insisted on Stephen King faggotry, try the shining and/or dreamcatcher

This is cool, thanks for sharing. I don't particularly like King, but this is cool.

Old photos the are pure luls. I always have to hold my laugh when I see my parents old photos. I definitely need to take more photos of myself to laugh later.

If you loved IT give Insomnia a read. It takes place in the same town and is set a few years after, even mentions a lot of the events from IT like the flood.

I don't understand how anyone can read his over hyped, under performing garbage.

King was so fucked up on drugs and alcohol that he can't even remember writing most of his own books. That would explain why all of his writings come off as boring drivel or batshit insane and incomprehensible.

No thanks, I think I'll read something else.

>> No.15457407

I would read The Dark Tower series and related books, so like Eyes of the Dragon, Insomnia, Salem's Lot, The Regulators and Desperation, Hearts in Atlantis, It, and The Stand. You already got a couple so you're making good progress.

This. Rage is pretty good as a genuine document of King's seething youth as a bullied kid. Basically a much more disturbing version of the Breakfast Club, but published before. The Running Man and the Long Walk are also great dark, sci-fi "dystopian" novels.

Duma Key is so underrated. It's honestly one of his best work, and closer to actual literary fiction / magical realism than to the niche Lovecraftian horror of "It" or "The Shining", which are more popular.

>he's popular so he must suck
>he's genre fiction so he's a hack

fuck your biases. He's a good writer who has been incredibly successful for a reason: his writing resonates with people, including critics. Yes, he has written a lot of crappy stuff. He has also written a lot of good works, like The Stand, Rage, Duma Key, the Green Mile, etc.

Let that be a lesson to us. King was a good writer before he melted his brain. But that wasn't what made him famous. It was the fact that he was cheap and would meet any deadline in order to feed his $100/day coke habit

The Gunslinger is trash.

Bag of Bones and Duma Key are the best

>> No.15463643

11/22/63 is good if you ignore the pretense and just enjoy the setting. Also skip the ending because it’s garbage.
