I'm saving for a house but I'm royal navy so don't get paid a lot . Plus UK house prices are a fortune. Also get free accommodation on ship so not worth moving out yet as I basically live on a ship.

You're too anxious all of you. Find some personal goals, some society-approved goals alongside it and learn to achieve realistic success managing both. That will keep you busy but somewhat satisfied for the next 20 years. Don't fall for the intelligence meme, having a niche but enjoyable area of interest and understanding the expectations of those around you are key.

Define youth and define wasted. 15-29 is can be roughly seen as physical youth as indicated by women maturing and then hitting The Wall. So you might have wasted your life so far but it could be totally different by 25. Socially, you might have fucked up because it's almost time to get a job and quit partying and being vapid and all that stupid shit. Which 99% of the time is what people like you feel they missed out on. You got lucky, trust me. Go start a family, modern friendship is a vapid, nonreplacement for the mannerbunds we lost. Also figure out what you would die for and live for it.
