I read these quite some time ago.
What I remember getting from Siddhartha was just some chill river stuff, what I got from the alchemist was some guy and a merchant or something and the guy was like I will desire so much! And the universe will give me my desire and I was like uh kinda lame.

I've read Alchemist 2 times. First when I was about 7 and second when I was about 15. By that time I have literally completely forgotten about it already so I was surprised when parents told me that I've already read it once. Now I'm 23 and I don't remember a single part of this book again. I barely remember a death of a chacter from The Fifth Mountain, though. I generally don't have a very good memory, but it's still exceptionail in a way. It's kinda fascinating, really. A book you can read anew every few years.

middle brow perfectly describes hesse. Good stuff, easy and fun reads and helped me develope my character. I wish I read him as a teen, he would have blown my mind

The Alchemist is an interesting story written in a way anyone can read, it's impossible to be simpler.
