Baiting lit. theory will only result in postmodernist griping. I can't tell you how many times I've shitposted Bahktin trying to discuss dialogism and got banished to the shadow realm of the archives with 0 replies.

I'll discuss the reality effect with you anon. I don't really want to discuss death of the author stuff because I assume most people haven't made their way up and through the against interpretation stuff that so clearly de-emphasizes the loss of intention stuff, and if they have they wouldn't be nearly as enchanted with DoA. Reality effect is a nice pedagogical point, potentially.

Barthes is honestly not that influential in poststructuralism. He didn't ruin shit. His ideas were already present in contemporaries in one form or another. You're only bitching because his treatment of pop culture makes him accessible.

Not him, but Bakhtin is hardly an obscure critic. Russian formalism in general is chan-babby's second school of lit-crit after New Criticism. One could say it's New Criticism for kids who think New Criticism is too passé.

No one discusses him. That’s the problem.
