There are, but they write music. My guess is you can't really make a living off of poetry, so no one does it anymore. Maybe people's short atention span is the cause. I don't know.

Dali mastered painting, there have been no great painters since him (fuck you botero), also digital art is now a thing.
It's also cultural. It's not that no one can write operas anymore, but that no one gives a shit, and great composers have moved to make movie scores or whatever the medium of the day is.
