Convince me one way or the other my sweet /lit/erati.

I read a lot, and when I get onto a series I see it through. I figure the initial cost will be worth it in the long run.

If not the kindle, then what?

I liked the look and feel of Barnes & Noble's color NOOK better, because it's practically an iPad. Given that, I will probably never own a Kindle or a Nook because I will not pay for anything that enforces DRM.

Even more hypocritical, this thing - NoteSlate - I haven't had technolust like this in years. http://noteslate.com/

Kindle Enforces DRM?

It takes PDF's, and I've downloaded a few dozen books on the format so far.

It enforces DRM on its own titles. Amazone ebooks come in .mobi files which are (supposed to be) incompatible with other machines. Kindle is also not compatible with book borrowing systems like Overdrive, which is employed by libraries.

Of course everyone here knows how to get free titles without going the legit route, but the more you know.

If you're going to pirate go for the Kindle for sure. If not, you may want Nook.

Well if you're doing it for cost convenience then does anyone really need to make a compelling argument for you to get a kindle? Shit son, you'll pay for the damn thing after the first 4-5 books you dl.
