Yes, your point?

Nothing. I think the way in which he presents the initial concept is surprisingly profound for the fantasy genre, but then the solution to that seems almost completely contradictory to the spirit of the books.

Is this a sign of dissociation or something else? Pathological, spiritual or escapism?

I haven't read the books and I turned off the first episode after 20 minutes but what were you expecting? It is a series of fantasy books after all. You can call it a copout yes, since Martin was autistically going for realism in a fantasy story. Ultimately there are other better books that cover the topic but their solutions will be vague and not easy since this is real life

>Q: Early on, one critic described the TV series as bleak and embodying a nihilistic worldview, another bemoaned its “lack of moral signposts.” Have you ever worried that there’s some validity to that criticism?

>A: No. That particular criticism is completely invalid. Actually, I think it’s moronic. My worldview is anything but nihilistic.

He seems to hate that label. It wasn't even something like "that's how it works and people are naive", "well it depends on how you view nihilism"

GRRM is at his heart, a deeply moralistic liberal. That doesn't change that his book is bleak and nihilistic, it's just the unintentional result of his thinking.

The point is not to dwell in this reality, the honorable and good ascend to higher levels of existence beyond this purgative realm

It's not dissociation. He's a moron, not a schizophrenic patient.

And while all the magic is shit because the author didn't master the topic, the real reason for what you're saying is that he set up a world where heroes fail and die horribly, and yet still ended up build some plot-armored heroes in the end, if only because the audience wouldn't read 10k pages of something where the relatable guys just keep dying one after the other.
