I doubt it. Delillo's prose can be wordy but it's never really difficult. Just be patient and you should be ok.

The irony at the end is that Humbert Humbert believes himself a master manipulator and predator but it is Quilty and Dolores who pull one over on him and use his naivety to his advantage. That is the message of Lolita.
