So, I desire to get a basic idea of the things that defines our world and living. Like, after my studies in laws I feel like I understand (world) events and their impacts so much better (I worked a while before I studied).

Please, if you are an expert in any field and feel like a certain book would help an outsider to understand the world or the corresponding field, share (History, Physics, Biology, Arts, Craftmanship, Medicine, etc.).

Thank you very much.

I´ll start off with something not specifically my field but I am working in management:

Thorkild Jacobsen's The Treasures of Darkness is both an incredibly accessible look into Mesopotamian religion and a study on the general interpretation of mythology as a whole.

Walt Whitman's Song of Myself should be read before reading any other american poetry-one of the first free verse experts discussing an american ideal summed up best with "Every atom belonging to me/as good, belongs to you."

Are you at all interested in mathematics? If so, I would like to suggest David Hilbert's masterpiece "Geometry and the Imagination".
It introduces basic concepts in mathematics in a very beautiful way and even provides insight into some topics that working mathematicians can be surprised by. All written to be accessible to the general audience. It's great!

Roger Penrose and David Bohm's popular stuff are good. Gribbin's Schrödinger's Cat and Schrödinger's Kittens are both good as well.

Honestly, any archaeological or geological book about physical sciences and practices are helpful, along with books about procedure.

Mostly I've seen people in my field fawn over books on artifacts from the region/time of their professional interest.

Pic related and Hume's other works are mostly what I see
