It means don't get bogged down parsing every single detail, but push forward. Imagine you are looking at one of those impressionist paintings. You're not going to understand the whole painting by standing a few inches away and staring at one corner until you feel you understand that one corner, then moving on to the other corners. You have to step back, take a wider view, and then you will see better what that little corner was actually representing.
