Chaos Magic thread.

Discuss mind over matter and mind under matter and minding matter and mattering mind. As above, so below, etc.

Anyone done work linking American Psychonautics with Speculative Realism, OOO, Dark Deleuzeanism, Accelerationism, the CCRU, and the Numogram?

Read Dark Deleuze. A bit polemical but summarizes some of the dark enlightenment and nrx lines of flight well unintentionally.

Pretty sure Land himself said that the Numogram wasn’t really anything besides a decimal illustration. Whatever “magick” you find in accelerationism is almost certainly just for appearances to draw in the readers with an affinity for edginess.

I'd add Joshua Wetzel's "Paradigmal Pirate", Joel Biroco's "The Exorcist of Revolution" and The Invisibles to the list too, because why not recommend a /co/mic in an /x/ thread on /lit/

The most interesting work to come out of that scene, to me, is often what turns up in zines as a sort of dialectic where people are trying to free themselves from the tyranny of the previous century of tedious Golden Dawn gatekeeping. Chumbley had a very small circulation magazine like that also. Can the Azoetia really be considered a "chaos" work though? Whatever his other interests, it seems to derive more from Robert Cochrane and the like in the fished product.

It's probably a better and more immersive book for that - in the end, the whole paradigm shifting thing seems like a bit of a dead end, given that pretty much everyone originally involved has gone off and gotten involved with more 'traditional' practices (or heavy psychedelics) instead. One might consider this an indication that the mind seems better able to approach magick given a consistent and archetypal symbol structure as this allows synchronicity to become a kind of dialog; or, the recapitulation of Being requires a process which unfolds through structured growth otherwise there's only horizontal "results" working without vertical development.

I thought that Deleuze was that way at first when reading AO (only horizontal) but ATP adds the vertical (to an almost infinite level). Or so it seems. Ya. I am into theory itself as a paradigm. Or philosophia. Ever ascending wisdom. Awaiting the owl of minerva. Probably a bad deleuzean desu. Into neoplatonism and hermeticism too.

I probably shouldn't comment at all without reading the book, but on my superficial level it seems like the idea of singularity could fulfill that role. Sounds like the book sort of mirrors a ritual working as a temporary state of flux bookended by the introduction (opening) and conclusion (banishing), or something you could perhaps use like the I-Ching?
>>15247546
They do rather throw the baby out with the bathwater there I think, which is understandable given their age at the time. There's a failure to differentiate between morality as a religious spook and certain modes of behaviour as effective praxes even though injunctions in that regard turn up as universally as "motionlessness" and the like.

He's a chore. You really gotta start with his secondary works. D&R is amazing but many just read beginning and ending. LoS is a personal favorite of mine. It was the first book of his I got. I read AO and Fanged Noumena while going crazy and made my own pseudo-numogram -- alas I burned all my notes shortly before sectioned to psych ward. Nevertheless it was amusing to read A Dirty Joke afterward (it was where I left off...). ATP is a total troll move. Like jk don't be schizo! You got off your meds? Mein gott, it was a performative gesture against Freud using metafictional elements. But I like him lots regardless. I think of the initiatic nature of the work being all the references you gotta learn. Unless you are an elite polymath it is a constant reevaluation. Hell, probably for them too. I use your ideas quite a bit. The I-Ching one. RAW says use Finnegan's Wake.
>>15247850
I need to read Liber Kaos but that's the impression I get. Hine went full tantra but wrote a retrospective which I plan on getting around to.

Anyone got a good occult/ esoterica history? Like an actual academic history, I mean. I want to be more familiar with the bigger background and development before I get into the newer experimentations.
I read CCRU but a lot of the mumbo-jumbo went over my head because my exposure to Kabbalah is pretty limited.

I find Gordon wholesome, on one side there is this fat gay and on the other is this high IQ wizard living the dream in a farm on the edge of the world. In a world full of radicalized fucks which tend to be on the right or into the left, I find his stuff quite comfy, as I think he gave on solutionism, instead he just went on along with the tide of times and built his own star crossed pantheon.
