Edith Hamilton's Mythology, since I see it talked up so often. It's a good primer, but at this point, I've read the majority of the primary texts she summarizes, so it's just a refresher and not much more. I think it would be an excellent book to get children into mythology, though, and intend to send my copy to my sister's kids.
