Neet-chuh predicted that mankind would fall into a state of perpetual chaos following the collapse of organized religion. Western society is doomed for nihilism because the central myth (Christianity) that had held our society together was no longer viable. Jung's goal was to dig into the psychological root of all religions and find their psychological origin. By doing this we can transform our image of god and find new religious fulfillment even in a world without "traditional" religion. At least thats my understanding, I'm pretty new to Jung. Maybe someone with a bigger brain than I could explain it.
