Is Franzen worth reading?

What book should I read by him?

No, not worth reading at all.

Only read the Corrections OP. It was a very good (not great) novel about the ah...erm...American family or something.

As an occasional British reader of American fiction, books which exploreTHE MEANING OF THE AMERICAN FAMILY offer a small, but welcome respite from books that explore THE MEANING OF AMERICA

It's because we're baffled by how much we suck. Most of our fiction is either justifying the suck, exploring it, or really driving home the fact that it exists and is inescapable.

If you like good writing, read it. He's one of the best modern American prose stylists.

If you're looking to "get" anything from it, don't bother.

Also, Strong Motion > The Corrections. I haven't read his new book yet, though.
