The book takes you on a journey through the whole of human history. The scope of the book is one of its most appealing features. It's very well researched and the author either references previous work to support his arguments or goes back to first base and constructs logical arguments to demonstrate his position. Nothing is assumed, and through easy to comprehend arguments he walks you through his thought processes. It's a very engaging read and a novel approach to understanding human history.

I’m stoked.
OP, have you any of Graeber? I thought I was going to read his Debt, but now I have this one going over world history. Wondering if you can compare.

I haven't read it, but I'd say that they've different approaches to the subject. Nevertheless I'll look into it. Thanks for the rec.

More Marxist trash added to my backlog. I like reading this shit for some reason, even though I don't agree and I think Cockshott is somewhat of a fool.

cockshott is a contrarian supernerd and therefore despite being a Marxist (of some strange flavour) should be relatable and memeworthy on 4channel. overlooking his shady history i personally am somewhat open to him but OP is doing a godawful job at shilling this book.

What shady?

Not impressed by his video that tries to vindicate LTV. In no way does showing a correlation between labour costs and prices prove that LTV is real. Prices are also correlated with a number of other non labour costs such as electricity.

Debt was good, wish the publisher imposed a bit more structure, because it reads a bit rambly to me.

his video vindicating the LTV does get a bit pedantic, but it really shows how ideological the supply/demand graph is.

the supply/demand curve is useful, but not really explanatory of economic reality. the LTV at least does a better job of explaining the marginal value around which price fluctuates.

Supply/demand CURVE. The margin of both supply or demand is just the first derivative of the function for the curve.
