Regardless of how old/new/true this post is, I think it exposes a fundamental flaw in the way Redditors perceive 4chan and other communities like it.

It's no surprise that hyper-left people gravitate towards Reddit. They are seeking out not just a community for personal discourse/discussion/disagreement/debate/et al, but a community that absorbs them body and soul. They seem to want to become fully part of another system, abandoning who/what they are outside of the community and use the ethos established by the community to orient themselves towards "truth", whether that's the IFUCKINGLOVESCIENCEXD crowd or these LARPing communist fags who'd be some of the first executed in the State they so desperately want to bring about.

This ethos is site-wide, and it's best demonstrated by some of the simplest base features. Karma, awards, usernames, post-histories -- all fantastic tools to promote intra-community unity and cohesion. If you don't fit the model, they chuck you out. If you don't speak the language, they ignore you. If you made a post they don't like, they will FIND IT, and any past mistakes/violations of the code are immediately seen as an invalidation of your loyalty to the over-community. Worst, if you disagree, the site itself will step in and naturally throttle our dissent until it takes twenty minutes for you to reply to a post because so many people disliked it. This has happened to me and other people I know before. It's a fascinating and terrifying model, because people who fit the system succeed and believe they do so naturally. People who don't bear witness to some of the more unscrupulous policing functions of the site, but because they've been cast out of the group, Reddit as a whole will refuse to accept them.

In it's own way, Reddit is the perfect proto-communist haven project. It's a near-flawless digital commune designed to promote a certain, carefully-controlled groupthink among the general populace who uses it, as well as the sub-stratum communities who populate it.

To be fair, groupthink, specific lingo, and rejection are persistent across these boards as well -- but the great thing about this place is that your anonymity guarantees individuality. All our mistakes and success are forgotten by the next thread. You are allowed an infinite number of chances to revise, or sink into, your beliefsets. And while 4chan employees moderators, some of whom are fucking dicks, I've never heard of anyone really being cast out by the algorithm. What's more, there are ways to get around it through VPNs and the like, and because you don't have an actual account, a ban is simply a temporary roadblock to you getting back on the boards; unlike on Reddit, where people invest so much of themselves in their account. They are trapped by a simulacrum of supposed individuality which ironically makes them one of the most communistic places on the entire internet.
