What do we think of Martin Amis? Is he great or just good?

Really good, but he's never blown my mind. I like reading him a lot and I love his speaking, but I can't call any of his books a favorite.

I’ve read three of his novels and only liked one of them - Money
London Fields was meh
Times Arrow was moronic

I really liked an essay he wrote about Malcolm Lowry. Nice mix of repulsion and affinity for the guy. I could relate

desu I prefer his father's novels, though Martin's a better journalist

Money I really liked. Time's Arrow was OK. He has good moments but nothing mind blowing or particularly memorable. IMO

Money is top tier
London Fields is also great but not as good

Anon, whenever anyone says "what do WE think," it's a clue they aren't capable of thinking on their own. What do YOU think, and why do you need other people to validate your opinion one way or another? Are you really that susceptible to peer pressure?
You'll find much more happiness in life by trusting your own instincts, rather than "checking" to make sure what you "think you like" is popular....

Neither. He might, at most, be moderately clever.

men like amis feel so out of time these days. white, kinda edgy and clever, architects of beautiful sentences who could never resist sticking their noses in current matters, whether it be sports or culture or politics, and who were always allotted miles of column space for their cranky farts. they were so of their era that they aged at speed, a total novelty in 2020
