Hello /lit/

While we're all in quaratine, I feel we should start a reading group, but on what?

I thought dostoyevsky, but it could be too trite and translations can be finickky, Gaddis or maybe some philosophical screeds?

If anyone has a genre or area of history they want to discover together, I'd be cool with exploring it/ running a discord and weekly thread.

I'm interested in political/legal philosophy, economics and fiction. I can read english, poortuguese, spanish and working on russian.

Shoot man.

I just want to talk books with people and have aa lively discussion. Droning /lit/ can only take you so far, to really engage you have to form a position then share it andtake criticsm on board.

Just gonna go trip so people know who's talking

I'd understand if you aren't keen seeing as he isn't really for everyone, especially if you haven't read him before. We could do crime and punishment though (in English), I've had that for a while. Much more accessible.

Post purpose or topic/s of your reading group and the discord link would be the best bet methinks

>> No.15156268

You need smaller books for reading groups, every single attempt at this over the years has failed when introducing a book longer than 200 pages. I'd love to be a part of it, but after a month there'll be 3 people left

as long as you don't use discord. I refuse to use discord. I use 4chan for many reasons. If I wanted to put an avatar and name to my posts and enter some sort of power-mongering drama nuskype chatroom I'd post on reddit.
Choose some short book and make a thread each week discussing the chapter.

We're reading Moby Dick in May, but that doesn't mean we can't have another book in that month.
Someone needs to just suggest something cool, get some schedule on how much to read by when and if enough people are interested we could do it.
