Yes.
I honestly enjoy PKD for the Gnostic symbolism and cognitive reversals (a staple of his paranoid fiction).
Would you say his early works are better as dudeweed, or his later works (A Scanner Darkly, VALIS, Flow My Tears, etc...)?
I'd argue VALIS is a more conceptually interesting version of the Illuminatus Trilogy in that it explores the intersection between transcendent rationality and insanity in a way that doesn't de-value/overglorify mental illness.

Honestly I haven’t read a whole lot of early Dick, but some of his older short are pretty “dude weed”. And while I agree VALIS and Illuminatus! share topical themes I think overall they’re fairly different overall in execution.
