ITT: We're 16 and have great taste in literature.

J.D. SALINGER. GREATEST WRITER OF OUR TIMES

>> No.1514674

I liek Twilight, Edward is sooooo cute.

>> No.1514682

Jurassic Park, the book is better than the movie, yo.

>> No.1514681

You mean we have good taste for a 16 year old, or that as a 16 year old our literary exposition has been minimal and satisfies hokey/trite desires?

trite.

>> No.1514709

Fight Club has got to be one of the most deepest portrayals of a split mind. It's Shakespearean.

Fantasy is so literature.

>> No.1514724

I once opened a copy of Mein Kampf.

If anyone needs me I'll be choking down a cigarette behind the gym.

>> No.1514726

dude, this book has like 1000 pages, I guess that means I'm better than everyone else.

In that case, on my short list:

Fight Club
Perks of Being a Wallflower
Catcher in the Rye
American Gods
Nietzsche (but I don't understand most of it)
Hemingway (cuz his writing style is STRAIGHT UP and SIMPLE unlike those confusing unintelligible faggots like Faulkner and Toni Morrison)
Ayn Rand

>> No.1514747

the "booky wooky" stands as a testament of our times. Brand again and again SHOWCASES his satire in a matter that the world over is left writhing in their chairs as if the chief female in a snake orgy. His infinite wit and humor expunge all seriousness from reality and swirl our thoughts and feelings into his greatest act. Russell has proved life's very diction upon these pages.

On The Road is the great American novel.

>> No.1514771

Moby Dick sucks

>> No.1514773

Well, if it's based off what I was like when I was 16

>American Psycho is so cool. All I need to be just as deep and vivid is pointlessly gruesome murder scenes in my stories; I haven't missed the point at all.
>The Divine Comedy: I have only skimmed over it but that makes me more intelligent than anyone else my age.

Has anybody read Ishmael? That book will change your life. It's like, we're in a cage but we can't see the bars! We're trapped in an agricultural capitalism.

WE NEED TO REVERT TO HUNTER-GATHERER AGRARIAN NOMADISM OR THE PLANET IS GOING TO DIE

I'M WRITING AN ESSAY ON THE PERILS OF MALTHUSIAN POPULATION CONTROL AS WE SPEAK

The problem is even older people still read this shit.

There was this hipster girl next to me in my Literature After the Renaissance class reading The Fountain and I was about to shoot myself. I couldn't handle her intense intellectualism.

>> No.1514925

Reading anything at any age is not a problem. If you are intensely affected by someone else's literary taste, then the problem lies closer to home.

All Internet dick-measuring contest/ fights should end like this.

Also 16-year old me.
Read Ayn Rand's Anthem
Hey this is pretty good
writing style is deeply in character and strange but cool
get to last few chapters where guy stands on cliff for pages and pages talking about how his dick is a skyscraper and he is awesome and can take back the world
Getting kinda long-winded and annoying, but hopefully the scenes of him starting a grand revolution of liberation will make up for it
Book is Over
what.
the
FUCK.
Read one chapter of Fountainhead. Give up.
Wish for time machine and brass knuckles

Most people don't go to /lit/ if they don't have a long time passion for reading.

Like the retard who asked me what the plot of Frankenstein was, seemed to think it was a prequel to one of the movies or something. THAT dumbass does not show up to /lit/
