If I'm interested in modern philosophy from Quine and onward, do I really have to read every philosopher prior?

I'm currently at Hume and while he gets a lot of things right most of the stuff is simply outdated and feels like a waste of time to read

No, definitely not.

+ Intro to philosophy: 'The Problems of Philosophy' by Bertrand Russell.
+ Intro to positivism: 'Language, Truth and Logic' by A. J. Ayer.
+ W.V.O. Quine: 'From a Logical Point of View' - https://ia800603.us.archive.org/14/items/FromALogicalPointOfView/QuineFromALogicalPointOfViewText.pdf

Depending on what area of analytic philosophy you want to study, different historical writers are useful.

repulsive subhuman

yes, read everything that you can, don't be like all of the US 'philosophers' circle jerking each other and 'inventing' ideas from Plato (but in a much worse and shallow manner)

this neet thinks he's superior to modern academic philosophers because he's read more ancient greek and medieval scholastics. If he tried to have a conversation with an actual philosopher he would utterly embarrass himself and he would cope with "b-but they havent' even read all of plato in the original greek", this is why he's so angry and why he insists on "starting with the greeks" being the only way despite being unable to provide any actual good reasons for this. many such cases.

You already failed at philosophy. Read the Bible

Speaking from personal experience, I was initially only interested in 20th-century philosophy: specifically, the phenomenological tradition. What I found is that the more I learned about modern philosophy, the more I became interested in the Greeks and the history of philosophy more generally. When you start to take even one thinker seriously you end up looking backwards to other thinkers they reference, as well as thinkers they don't mention explicitly but influenced them. Sometimes I envision philosophy as this giant web of interconnected nodes; you can enter pretty much anywhere and then follow the lines in pretty much any direction. I recommend you read what interests you and consult secondary sources for anything historical that seems important.
