why is desire so important in lacanian psychoanalysis? You cant be yourself because you have this desire inside of you that keeps changing and will never be gone.

>why is desire so important in lacanian psychoanalysis?
Because desire is the lifeforce itself. Many other thinkers have correctly identified will/desire as the main theme of existence too
>you have this desire inside of you that keeps changing
It doesn't change
>and will never be gone.
that's a good thing

How to know what you actually desire?

Humans, even living thins.
understood by their behaviours.
mostly all have the underlying assumption
that these behaviors are intrinsically pragmatic.
In other words, goal oriented.

The cognitive and psychoanalytic branches of psychology apply these assumptions to thoughts.
Like there has to be a reason, or goal.
autonomic or consious doesn't matter.
the reason why we have motives and intentions. Is also a means to an end.
