What got me was when he likely created a Dick Masterson fan forum, pretended to be a fan and made some comment about rape. I think Hemingway was authentic, some of his books deal explicitly with themes of emasculation (The Sun Also Rises) and the need to affirm one's male identity through violence, self-improvement, and conflict against nature (Death in the Afternoon, Old Man and the Sea). His suicide shouldn't be seen as a repudiation of these ideals, just that he could no longer perform the life-affirming rituals of masculinity due to his health, so he called an audible.

What? You don't have to be a coherent political goal to be transgressive, if I'm interpreting your implication correctly. The point of ironic Nazism and Hitler/Stalin worship among teens is to ridicule the sacred cows of previous generations, to make mockery of what is sacrosanct. Holocaust jokes 20 years ago were a similar phenomenon, but pretending to actually be a Nazi is far more loathsome to boomer sensibilities as it expresses not only an offensive levity, but a genuine admiration of the ideals and behaviors boomers have been trained to hate. It's dumb, yes, but it is accurate and certainly does get old codgers worked up.

The last and current generation already are, so it is obvious the new one will be too.

The porn stuff especially considering how Pornhub is effectively in a slow transition toward being considered a lifestyle brand concerned with sexuality what with them opening stores, pop-up sex education clinics, hosting art shows etc. Their end goal is to be website you can trust your kids will be safe when they browse it.

Reddit used to be more like a kind of ticker tape, like people wouldn't really comment on the OP just up and down vote it, and the OP was often not much more than just a link with a description. I thought Alphabet of Manliness came out before 2006 though, like 2004 is what I remember (did he self publish first?), either way it's fairly early but I think 2006 is like the birth of stuff like /fit/.
