in order to start learning russian i used duolingo and the new penguin russian course (literally everyone who's seriously studying russian seems to have this book)
then i moved onto reading bilingual stories, and eventually just russian novels
hope this helps!

I've been using Duolingo too, did you do the full course and how would you say your knowledge was at that point?

Also yeah it helps ty

i also did this book, then i did some russian graded readers i ordered through the library which were really good.

i fell off learning it and forgot a lot though. i think if i had just taken a break for a week or two, then come back and re-done the penguin book, i would have been a lot better off. something about a second pass really helps cement things, and it's encouraging because it makes you realize that you remember more than you would have thought.

i actually did the 1950s soviet propaganda version of the book which was cool.

soviet stuff is really cool
obviously there were problems with the USSR but the fact that they didn't succumb to decadence like the west left their cultural works purer in a way
