Simmel's my favorite by far
Don't let the title fool you..
Also, any sociology chart will have to feature Vico's New Science at the tip top

Yup, sociology is completely dominated by Jews.

The entire first list contains the grandfathers of the subject and the rest are what you can expect to have to grapple with whether you like the subject or not. Sure, there are analytic and positivist streams but I don't care about those beyond Chomsky, so "conti schizo-babble """social theory"""" aside it's a relevant list of sociological and sociology-adjacent authors and texts

Congratulations, you have the honor being less retarded than your previous posters. Still, you only have a passing mention of him without mentioning any of his works and instead recommend all that French schizo crap, so we might say, you're retarded enough.

Weber is arguably the only sociologist worth reading.

>> No.15091877

The only sociologists worth reading are Marx (left) and Pareto (right).

Engaging with sociology means eventually engaging with french 'schizobabble' or at least knowing the texts, omitting them from a list is ignoring their influence on the subject and on the history of western thought in general.

Writing these authors off as 'schizobabble' is a very good way to out yourself as a brainlet though

Liquid Modernity is a good text and worth reading if only because it's a nice idea to play around with and eventually throw away

No one on earth needs to grapple with Land or Fisher. The other thinkers are commendable in their own right, but not sociology. Only the first four are actual sociologists.

No, he's right -- it's literally schizobabble. This is well-known among scholars of serious disciplines.

>> No.15091988

The last list is just CCRU but the rest, whether you can call them sociologists or not, are arguably still relevant to the study of sociology

>>15091949
Still worth reading even if you don't hold either of our opinions and want to know where sociological thought has moved in the last century. Schizobabble or not these are major citations, the DNA of these authors is everywhere

>> No.15092007

>>15090966
Is this most cited in the field of sociology itself or most cited sociologists?

Because i feel like Foucault is mentioned by English majors and psychologists non stop, but isn’t the monumental figure you expect in the world of political science

>> No.15092011

>>15091949
I doubt you can deny that any serious appraisal of schizophrenic continental thought isn't worthwhile, even if it's just to throw the authors out later. There's no point in limiting your knowledge especially when those particular authors hold a large amount of influence over discourse that you're guaranteed to run across eventually

>> No.15092020

>>15090536

no, weber is. but why would you want a goy's opinion anyway? jews are naturally more capable of analyzing society because they have an outsider's perspective.

>> No.15092025

>>15092007
It's likely citations in the field and not cited sociologists. Sociology is more of a nexus that draws on work from other fields frequently. It's not rare to read sociolgical texts that have as their foundation political scientists, psychologists, anthropologists, philosophers etc

>> No.15092037

Then your only answer to anybody who cites seriously Deleuze & Guattari, or Lacan, or Derrida, will be the same as this post and if that's how you appoach learning and reading then that's fine
