No, it's a blasphemous book written by a fag with oneitis. I'm reading Revelation and anticipating return of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Dante was more Catholic than you could ever be faggot.

Isn't that a little morbid for Good Friday? I'd rather go out and throw some rocks at Jews.

Oh right. But wouldn't Purgatory or Paradise be a better read than Inferno?

chiaroscuro is beautiful and overall composition is better. They're all realistic except for the medieval ones because they had no idea how perspective worked.

I'm guessing it's because Good Friday stands for suffering and death. Similarly Christ's agony in the garden is reflected by the despair felt by Dante in the dark forest on Maundy Thursday right before he starts his journey to hell.

>renaissance art above ICONS
>no #1 is by a literal academic painter
>academic painting above icon
you don't know the value of an icon. first you should not even compare an icon to any other religious art

read iconostasis by pavel florensky.

>they had no idea how perspective worked.
WRONG. artists knew perspective since ancient times. the fact they neglected it shows how they care more about the essence than the portrayal of reality

"The Egyptian world-view and Egyptian art were not tied to a single point of view or to a particular moment of time. Individuality in applied art does not equal truthfulness of being. Anaxagoras and Democritus were the first to clarify the laws of perspective and scenography (Vitruvius), explaining how rays of light must be transmitted in order to pass from a picture onto the retina as from a phenomenon.4 Thus, perspective was known in early antiquity. But it was not used because the task of painting was not to duplicate reality but to provide a more profound understanding of it."

im completely triggered and my blood is boiling by the fact this anon made an image thinking icons are mere "medieval art from people who didnt know perspective". one couldn't be more clueless than that. AAAAA
AAAA
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA NIGGA WHAT ARE YOU DOING
>CHIAROSCURO IS BEAUTIFUL
ICON IS A MIRROR TO THE ETERNITY
ALL TRADITIONAL ART WERE CONCERNED MAINLY WITH THE ESSENCES NOT THE APPEARENCES. EVEN EGYPTIAN AND MINOAN ART HAVE MORE VALUE THAN THOSE PIECES HELD IN MUSEUMS

have this iluminura that is better than any of the renaissance and academic art you could ever post
