Do we perceive color differently? Is my "green" actually your "red"?

No. the waking world is a shared existence, so the colours are the same unless something is wrong with your vision. There are exceptions of course, but as a matter of principle they are all the same.
I think the uncultured savages can even see the same colours as an artist, but they lack the intelligence to describe how things differ.

>> No.15058289

Goethe wrote about colours and vision, as did Schopenhauer. Check them out. Dont listen to anyone who mentions science or anything like that, it's all bullshit. Probably some good stuff in the Vedas too.

The more important question is - does it matter? Even if the colours we see are different, it is their names which serve their function, not the actual qualia. Lets say, relative to my perception of green and red, you see your version of green as my version of red and vice versa. even if what you see doesn’t match up to the colour I see, we both still attach the significance of “go” to “green” and “red” to “stop” even if the colours we see are entirely different.

No retard, the only people that see color differently are people with colorblindness.

Good advice for life in general.

we will never know since I can't see what your consciousness sees, I have myopia and astigmatism and only found out in adulthood, my "distorted" worldview was the true one for me all that time

>> No.15058908

I was always confused as a kid when people described colors. I found out when I was about 17 that it's because I can see ultraviolet light and other people can't.

Dennett is a fuckin zombie. Why would you listen to a man who wants to eat your brains?

It doesn't matter, we have coherence regardless

Your awareness of my consciousness is merely a reflection of your own. You couldn't understand a consciousness which isn't absorbed in your own.

If anyone draws meaning straight from sciece, going from an is to an aught, they are probably falling for a rhetoric trap. science is a means, the ends requires something else.

>> No.15060497

>>15058261
No. There is an entire field of biology dedicated entirely to the eyeball of different species. It's incredibly fascinating. You can tell which animals are color blind, which have super vision, and which have shit vision entirely by studying the physical makeup of their inner eye.

Very based. Unfortunately a lot of illiterate retards on here are very cringe and refuse to use this tool and rather stick to intuition because their feelings are what rule them

Thanks. Its hard to argue with both pure STEMcels and those high on some subset of mystic subjectivity. The former can usually be broken by showing them how a model can be interpreted in different ways in practice and by whittling away at the "why" in terms of intent. The latter needs to be strapped down and go into some Hegelian sorcery of terminology and epistemology.

We might find out some day, but until then right now it's basically like asking if the world was made yesterday. It's impossible to prove in any way.
