How accurate is this chart? Do you want to add, remove or change the position of some author.

I love the dab on Coehlo
Haven't read most of them so can't say, I think we should make a list with more defined criteria/maybe a group ranking poll?

Coelho sucks ass.
Also Bolano should be one level down. Savage Detectives is YA lit.

I'd raise Beckett and lower Borges. Maybe they meet in the middle.

The average European high school student has read multiple books from levels 3, 4 and 5 and likely none from level 1. Kafka, Perec, Proust, Beckett and Mann (just a novella) were all required reading in my high school classes, and those are just what I recall. When graduating high school I had only read On the road and 1984 from level 1.
For anglos though I could imagine this being pretty accurate.

I think the chart refers to Alexander Theroux, not Paul Theroux.

Too little public funding put into use too inefficiently. When you have a class of 30, it's difficult too keep the kids focused, let alone get them to think about 19th century German classics – to give one example.

Not true. I have family teaching in Harlem, the school gets a shit ton of money and benefits. The classes are also 19 kids max. By 5th grade they are still illiterate. School in the outer boroughs with well performing kids get no money or tech and have 32 kids per class but wind up going to the best schools. All it takes is one terrorist loud ghetto cunt to fuck over a class and distract everyone along with shit parents who can't raise humans properly. It really is the parents fault for these fuck up kids not the schools. Also most Europeans are retarded so it's not a good continent to use if you want to appeal to authority. I read Joyce in 11th grade English in NYC, it means nothing. What you do in your private time is what matters as far as attainment/Aptitude.

There was a good thread on this a few days ago about excuses people make and how school makes people uninterested in reading. Any fucking retard can just look up spark notes summaries or do their own thing. The "English class ruined books" is a massive midwit cope.
