Any medieval lit. fans about? Reading Wife of Baths in a lit class and prof mentioned how the knight in the Wife of Bath's tale is supposed to be Sir Gawain; could anyone tell me where it says this?

no fucking clue, but I'll bump because I'm interested

I'd look to the interpretive tradition of that particular story.
Perhaps the identification is justified in a commentary on the work?

Yeah after some googling I found that there are parallels between Sir Gawain and he Green Knight and The Wife of Bath's Tale that are attributed to this interpretation. thanks

I know The Wife of Bath is an earlier version of The Wedding of Sir Gawain and Dame Ragnelle, but have not read The Canterbury Tales yet, I can't say for certain if The Wedding of Sir Gawain just took the model of Wife of Bath, or if it is simply a retelling, using the same characters.

If I'm not mistaken, I believe the knight is mentioned in the book on a page.
