You can read the manifesto if you want his own explanation. There's a good argument to be made that that book wouldn't be as famous as it is if it weren't for the bombings.
Conversely the ideas are also directly brought into discredit by the bombings. And you can say, and Ted would say, that that's mere ad hominem, and you'd be right. But arguments don't hold sway in the real world based on their logical soundness alone. And that fact about reality is one that Ted discarded.
Also the guy was a damaged and hateful person. He wanted to lash out at the society that mistreated him.

Well the manifesto was sent out anonymously, so he might have been trying to protect his identity by alluding to the fact that it was written by multiple people.
But it also serves as a way to give more authority to his arguments. When reading the manifesto I continuously mentally replaced the word we with I. Whilst it's still a convincing read, there's a few value judgements in the manifesto that aren't well served by this mental excercise.
In the chapter about surrogate activities if I recall correctly, he concludes that even if people could find purpose and happiness in surrogate activities, "we consider it a demeaning way to live".
Replace we with I, and it sounds kinda pathetic.

All very well, but why not bomb bits of the infrastructure of the system he hated e.g. Silicon Valley, more lobbyists than just that one timber industry guy, delivery/supply chains of major technological industries etc.? Check out wwoofing in your country, there's many farms/communities/individuals that take volunteers - you work a few hours, get to learn and practice whatever it is they're doing and they give you food and accommodation. Obviously avoid big soulless commercial farms, look for the small places. Good way to find knowledgeable folks and breath fresh air. Don't know how it'll work out at the moment with the whole Coronavirus limitations wherever you are, but good luck.
