no

You can start with drawing on the right side of the brain. As far as mechanics of painting itself I don't remember the name of any of the other books my grandmother showed me. I'd suggest watching some bob ross and checking out the /ic/ sticky.

This is a based book, I second this recommendation

>> No.14992656

You can learn the basics from any old how-to book. But if you want a true education examine paintings in a museum from close up. I mean put your face inches from the canvas and look.

This. Pay attention to images as they come to you, in reality, in the works of others, in imagination. Really think about them. I took up oil painting at the start of the year and while I'm very bad at it, I know I am learning intuitively as I practice and as I try to understand and think in images. I was also paralyzed initially with the idea that I should 'learn' to paint but honestly, just get stuck into it for now. Hope this is at least encouraging in some way. (:

I am always impressed by people who can draw and paint. I can't seem to get past stick figures.
I hope you find what you are looking for.

What would be a good hobby to have beside literature? When I don't read fiction I read non-fiction, when mot reading, I write, and when I don't write I write trashy shit, so it would be nice to have another hobby to change the pace. I don't have any talent for music so maybe painting or performing arts? Suggestion pls

>> No.14993467

>>14993386
don't get obsessed over the very medium i would suggest: i was told i was shit at visual arts and writing all my life until i actually had something to say/express, as opposed to being something i did as an "assignment"

also still fielding guesses as to who chick from OP's chick is

>> No.14993518

>>14993467
But visual art is about the only hobby I can realistically try. I'm too clumsy to try pottery or sculpting, and there's no where available to learn performing art near my place

i did digital collages for a while because tho i suck at drawing, i have a pretty good eye for composition. again i don't think you should be excessively concerned about your medium of choice because i think it will come naturally if you decide to do it, but maybe keep a few colour pencils at home because they are relatively low barrier of entry yet are very pretti. pastels are cool too and have nicer cloours. photography is nice too

Comrades, it is anon here from the local politburo. Please hide all posts related to the glowing plague. It is disinformation. But remember to wash your hands and don your protective suit. Spreading disinformation and panic will result in the internal troops arriving and arresting you.
