Where is Atlantis , you drunk?

>> No.14988870

I had this really furstrating conversation with this Aussie on /pol/, who insisted that Plato was genuinely giving support to the existence of Atlantis.

It annoyed me, because Timeaus/Critias are short fucking works. Ignore all te geometry and elemental stuff if you want to, but it's pretty fucking clear to anyone with a brain that Plato was using a legend like his magnificent myth in the Republic.

I mean in the dialogue Socrates charges Timeause and Critias to come up with the characteristics of a perfect civillian and society, just like the republic except with a more scientific approach in Timaeus and then basically an oration tying it together with Platos intentions in critias.

It has nothing to do with a real atlanatis.
