Eight hours sleep, eight hours work, maybe two hours' worth of eating, that leaves five hours, well spent in the company of friends or a second roll in the hay. No. It is a misery to be with someone miserable. Also, I can say with perfect honesty that most #3-type women I have known have been single after the age of 25. Once the bloom of youth wears off, the drawbacks outweigh the attractions – and they also tend to get more demanding as they age, even shrewish in some cases.

You're making a very specific set of assumptions that match up to a particular kind of personality rather than someone who's just intelligent and generally melancholic, so I suspect that you're either talking about someone specific or a specific group of people that you're familiar with.
