Apparently not, because apparently libraries now get charged exorbitant amounts by publishers for each loan. Some white lady author on twitter told me this giddily to explain how IA is somehow bad. Had no idea how much libraries were being shaken down by shady publishers. They have to pay per download or digital loan depending on the publisher

It's not a moral argument, it's a pragmatic one. When something exists that can be taken for free why would everyone pay for it? Especially when there are millions of other artists out there willing to take their place?

The real way around piracy is by making getting content more convenient and risk-free than torrenting (see - Spotify, Netflix etc). Markets don't operate on moral arguments.

Please stop using the terms 'left' and 'right' 'wings', they don't mean anything anywhere, it's just nonsense of the internal polarity of liberalism givnig the fake notion of a choice within it, a false dichotomy. >>14984046
>They definitely exist, but they’re completely lacking in a platform.
Of course they are, but even fringe groups completely buy into the liberal ideology. It doesn't matter how far 'left' or 'right' you actually go. If there were radicals they'd be using force against the system, there would be a violent struggle of some sort, anti-government forces. Instead you could go to the most radical of marxists in the US and he'd still be in favour of maintaining liberty, democracy and so on. When they argue they do so on the premise of liberal capitalism.

>If there were radicals they'd be using force against the system, there would be a violent struggle of some sort, anti-government forces
You have a point, in that there is enough implicit trust in "the system" that they feel they can achieve their goals via elections above anything else.
But I don't believe that inherently desiring your end system to withhold personal liberties and democracies makes you inherently a liberal capitalist.

Just examples, they accept the entire foundation, meaning they support the system even if they 'oppose' it on some minor point. Dissent requires core disagreements, as long as you agree with all of the premises you actually reinforce the status quo with critique and such.

For example, simply helping workers by making their conditions endurable seems like a good thing in a vacuum, but you're essentially just helping things to continue to move along instead of letting a radical change happen. The rich stay rich and the poor stay poor.
