/lit/ to help me cope with being born severely deformed?
Apparently nearly every philosopher would have just exposed me right away.
Maybe they were right. The world really has no place for me.

Literally no philosopher would have cared. Where did you get this from?

We are all ugly compared to our celestial body. One day our soul will be beautiful because God is beauty and we are his. The only hope for lasting beauty is with God. Many books speak on such kinds of things.

Don't worry OP, what really matters is your mind/soul. You would be hard-pressed to find a philosopher that disagrees with that.

I don't think it's the deformity, I think it's your relationship to it. I don't think you need to cope either, just improve your mindset and focus on getting as much out of life as you can

I suppose it would depend on the ramifications of the deformity. Is it merely an aesthetic issue? Are you disabled as a result? That would probably pinpoint a philosopher who discusses it at more length. Although it’s probably worth noting that philosophers aren’t necessarily in the business of addressing very particular maladies and detailing how or why to live in light of that but rather how and why to live in light of whatever life happens to throw at us be it a deformity or some other unfortunate fate.

In the traditional doctrines of Islam, Christianity, and the world’s other religions seem to deal with this in a pretty unified fashion although not directly. The prevailing view as that a deformity or similar is merely a challenge sent from a higher order of things perhaps as a test of one’s spirit and it doesn’t impede anything since it’s one’s inner character and life which truly matters. After all, the most difficult tasks are usually given to only the most truly strong among us while the cowards are left to face no adversity at all.
