This might be the most ironic thing ever written down in a book.

Many of us live in countries where we lead very comfortable lives. Our government provides hospitals and schools, and even housing and income for those of us that can't work. Nobody starves to death. Nobody is homeless other than a few drug addicts. Crime is low. Quality of life is high.

Yet we have complete imbeciles who push for communism in our rich European countries, despite its terrible track record of failing every time. They refuse to learn from history. They want one more shot at this damned idea grounded in nothing but nice theories about how good people are and how evil 'the system' is.

It's got to the point where I hope communism wins and then I can laugh as millions of people starve to death or get shot and I'll get to say "told ya so!"

Right yeah where in any of lenin's writings does he discuss what went wrong in the collapse of Yugoslavia after Tito's death? That's what we're saying is that Zizek specifically deals with the current state of the left after the end of the 20th century and some of the failed socialist revolutions. You can debate whether or not he's radical enough but he's useful insofar as he's directly dealing with modern leftist history.

Therein lies the problem, the revolution collapsed and his viewpoints are taken from this post-collapse, from what came after, from underneath the domination of capital and so on. European political pseuds, mostly chicks and effeminate men in universities, are extremely heavily influenced by the US.
